\"\"Pingxin started to play the dulcimer at the age of 6. In September 1974, he emerged victorious from fierce competition to enter the prestigious Central Conservatory of Music, and became the only dulcimer student taken in that academic year nationwide. Upon graduation from Central Conservatory of Music in 1979, he continued with his first degree program in dulcimer performance. He graduated in 1983 with a Bachelor of Music, and the Conservatory kept him as a teacher. In 1985, he was one of the first Master Degree students of the dulcimer in all of China. Upon graduation in 1987, he became a full-time dulcimer teacher at the Conservatory. In 1993, he was promoted to be an Associate Professor \u2013 the youngest one with such a title in the entire institution with over 300 faculty\/staff members in that year.<\/p>\n

He has performed in many parts of China. Upon invitation in 1980, as a member of an elite group of musicians, he performed in the International Youth Arts Festival in Hong Kong. The following year (1981), he was one of 3 musicians to be invited to West Germany for a concert tour. These were the relatively early and rare experiences of China\u2019s renewed cultural contact with the outside world after the Cultural Revolution (1966- 76). His solo as well as ensemble performances were well received by the media of Hong Kong and West Germany.<\/p>\n

In 1988, Gyorgy Ranky, considered the most accomplished Hungarian composer after Kodaly, on his visit to Beijing, was so deeply moved by Pingxin Xu\u2019s performance that he arranged a Hungarian dance piece for Pingxin Xu with the words: \u201cDedicated to Pingxin, with admiration and friendship\u201d.<\/p>\n

In 1993, he moved to England and almost immediately became a popular musician there with invitations coming in great number from major concert halls which included the renowned South Bank Centre, Barbican Centre, Queen\u2019s Theatre (London), Royal Exchange Theatre (Manchester), and Repertory Theatre (Birmingham). In January 1995, he gave a solo recital at the prestigious Percell Room in London to a full house of enthusiastic audience that gave him long standing ovations. He performed for some of the highest ranked music festivals in Britain, including King\u2019s Lynn, Brighton, Three Choirs, Shepperton, Henley, Edinburgh, and the Llangollen International Music Estedfod in Wales. He was one of the only 3 featured solo acts invited\u2014one of the other two performers was the legendary Luciano Pavarotti.<\/p>\n

In 1993, he represented China to perform at the World Dulcimer Congress held in Hungary, and in 1995, he was the only Chinese Dulcimer player invited to perform for the International Dulcimer Festival in Munich, Germany, again at the International Dulcimer Festival in Switzerland, and in Czech Republic subsequently.<\/p>\n

Since the mid 1990s, he has been an international performer, introducing his Chinese dulcimer to hundreds of thousands of amazed audiences from all over the world.<\/p>\n

6\u6b72\u8d77\u958b\u59cb\u5b78\u7fd2\u63da\u7434\uff0c1974\u5e74\u7d93\u904e\u7af6\u722d\u6fc0\u70c8\u7684\u5165\u5b78\u8003\u8a66\uff0c\u8003\u5165\u4e2d\u570b\u6700\u9ad8\u97f3\u6a02\u5b78\u5e9c\u4e2d\u592e\u97f3\u6a02\u5b78\u9662\u9644\u4e2d\uff0c1979\u5e74\u5347\u5165\u4e2d\u592e\u97f3\u6a02\u5b78\u9662\u6c11\u6a02\u7cfb\u672c\u79d1\uff081981\u5e74\u8f49\u5165\u65b0\u6062\u5fa9\u7684\u4e2d\u570b\u97f3\u6a02\u5b78\u9662\uff09\u30021983\u7562\u696d\u7372\u5f97\u5b78\u58eb\u5b78\u4f4d\u3002 \u96a8\u5373\u7559\u6821\u5be6\u9a57\u6a02\u5718\u3002 1985\u5e74\u8003\u53d6\u6210\u70ba\u4e2d\u570b\u7b2c\u4e00\u5c46\u63da\u7434\u78a9\u58eb\u7814\u7a76\u751f\u30021987\u5e74\u7372\u5f97\u78a9\u58eb\u5b78\u4f4d\uff0c\u7559\u6821\u4efb\u63da\u7434\u6559\u5e2b\uff0c1993\u5e74\u88ab\u7834\u683c\u63d0\u5347\u70ba\u526f\u6559\u6388\uff0c\u70ba\u7576\u5e74\u5168\u9662300\u591a\u6559\u5e2b\u4e2d\u6700\u5e74\u8f15\u4e4b\u526f\u6559\u6388\uff0c \u4e5f\u662f\u7576\u5e74\u5168\u570b\u6700\u5e74\u8f15\u4e4b\u63da\u7434\u526f\u6559\u6388\u3002<\/p>\n

7\u6b72\u958b\u59cb\u767b\u53f0\u6f14\u594f\u3002\u5728\u4e2d\u570b\u8a31\u591a\u5730\u65b9\u8868\u6f14\u4e4b\u5916\uff0c1980\u5e74\u96a8 \u201c\u4e2d\u570b\u9752\u5e74\u6f14\u594f\u5bb6\u5c0f\u7d44\u201d\u8d74\u9999\u6e2f\u53c3\u52a0\u201c\u4e16\u754c\u9752\u5c11\u5e74\u85dd\u8853\u7bc0\u201d\u8868\u6f14\uff0c\u7368\u594f\u53ca\u5408\u594f\u4f34\u594f\u8868\u6f14\u5747\u7372\u5f97\u9999\u6e2f\u8f3f\u8ad6\u754c\u9ad8\u5ea6\u8a55\u50f9\u30021981\u5e74\u50c5\u7531\u4e09\u4eba\u7d44\u6210\u7684\u201c\u4e2d\u570b\u97f3\u6a02\u5bb6\u5c0f\u7d44\u201d\u8d74\u5fb7\u610f\u5fd7\u806f\u90a6\u5171\u548c\u570b\u5de1\u56de\u8868\u6f14\u3002 \u9019\u4e9b\u6d3b\u52d5\u5747\u70ba\u4e2d\u570b\u201c\u6587\u5316\u5927\u9769\u547d\u201d\u5f8c\uff0c\u6bd4\u8f03\u65e9\u671f\u53ca\u5c11\u898b\u7684\u5c0d\u5916\u8868\u6f14\u6d3b\u52d5\u3002<\/p>\n

1988\u5e74\uff0c\u88ab\u8a8d\u70ba\u662f\u7e7c\u201c\u79d1\u9054\u4f0a\u201c\uff08Kodaly) \u4e4b\u5f8c\u5308\u7259\u5229\u6700\u6709\u6210\u5c31\u7684\u4f5c\u66f2\u5bb6\u55ac\u6cbb\u2500\u862d\u5947(Gyorgy Ranky) \u5230\u5317\u4eac\u8a2a\u554f\u3002\u807d\u904e\u5f90\u5e73\u5fc3\u8868\u6f14\u7684\u201c\u63da\u7434\u5c0f\u5354\u594f\u66f2\u201d\u4e4b\u5f8c\u7570\u5e38\u611f\u52d5\uff0c\u96a8\u5f8c\u70ba\u5f90\u5e73\u5fc3\u6539\u8b8a\u4e86\u4e00\u9996\u5308\u7259\u5229\u6c11\u6b4c\u4e26\u984c\u8a5e\uff1a\u201c\u737b\u7d66\u5e73\u5fc3\uff0d\u5e36\u8457\u4ef0\u6155\u8207\u53cb\u8abc\u201d\u3002<\/p>\n

\u5b78\u8853\u65b9\u9762\uff0c\u5f90\u5e73\u5fc3\u662f\u4e2d\u570b\u7b2c\u4e00\u500b\u5c0d\u4e16\u754c\u63da\u7434\u9032\u884c\u6a6b\u5411\u6bd4\u8f03\u7814\u7a76\u7684\u4eba\u3002 \u6240\u8457\u8ad6\u6587\u300a\u4e2d\u5916\u63da\u7434\u7684\u767c\u5c55\u8207\u6bd4\u8f03\u300b\uff081987\uff09\uff0c\u9996\u5148\u63d0\u51fa\u201c\u4e16\u754c\u63da\u7434\u4e09\u5927\u9ad4\u7cfb\u201d\u7684\u7406\u8ad6\uff0c \u8a72\u7406\u8ad6\u73fe\u5df2\u5728\u97f3\u6a02\u5c08\u696d\u9818\u57df\u88ab\u5ee3\u6cdb\u91c7\u7d0d\u3002<\/p>\n

\u5728\u4f5c\u70ba\u4e2d\u570b\u97f3\u6a02\u5b78\u9662\u5c08\u696d\u63da\u7434\u8001\u5e2b\u7684\u5341\u5e74\u4e2d \uff081983-93\uff09\uff0c\u5f90\u5e73\u5fc3\u5728\u63da\u7434\u6559\u5b78\u65b9\u9762\u4e5f\u53d6\u5f97\u4e86\u4ee4\u4eba\u77da\u76ee\u7684\u6210\u5c31\uff0c\u6709\u5b78\u751f\u7372\u5f97\u5168\u570b\u63da\u7434\u5927\u8cfd\u7684\u982d\u734e\uff0c \u6709\u7684\u5b78\u751f\u73fe\u5728\u5df2\u7d93\u6210\u70ba\u8b1b\u5e2b\u526f\u6559\u6388\u3002<\/p>\n

1993\u5e74\uff0c\u5f90\u5e73\u5fc3\u4ee3\u8868\u4e2d\u570b\u53c3\u52a0\u4e86\u5728\u6377\u514b\u8209\u884c\u7684\u201c\u4e16\u754c\u63da\u7434\u5927\u6703\u201d95\u5e74\u5728\u5fb7\u570b\u6155\u5c3c\u9ed1\u8209\u884c\u7684\u201c\u63da\u7434\u85dd\u8853\u7bc0\u201d\uff0c1996\u5e74\u5728\u745e\u58eb\u65e5\u5167\u74e6\u8209\u884c\u7684\u63da\u7434\u85dd\u8853\u7bc0\u3002 1997\u5e74\uff0c\u5f90\u5e73\u5fc3\u88ab\u5728\u6377\u514b\u8209\u884c\u7684\u201c\u4e16\u754c\u63da\u7434\u85dd\u8853\u7bc0\u201d\u7279\u8acb\u70ba\u9996\u5e2d\u6f14\u594f\u5bb6\uff0c\u4ed6\u7684\u8868\u6f14\u7372\u5f97\u4e86\u8207\u6703\u8005\u7684\u71b1\u70c8\u8a55\u50f9\u3002<\/p>\n
