To promote interest in Chinese music to youths in Canada, Toronto Chinese Orchestra holds the first ever concerto competition for piano and Chinese traditional orchestra in Canada.

Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Sep, 24, 2009 – Toronto Chinese Orchestra, the largest Chinese orchestra in Ontario and the longest running in Canada, is pleased to host its first Piano Concerto Competition in 2009.

The young people and a few adults performed at CNE under the hot, hot sun.

為提高加國年青人對中樂的興趣與認識，多倫多中樂團將於本年十二月舉辦歷來首屆鋼琴與中樂團協奏曲大賽。

多倫多中樂團音樂總監彭進秀先生說：「這次鋼琴協奏曲比賽的曲目，題為《青年》；乃揉合西方的鋼琴與中國傳統民族樂團的作品﹐是北美史無前例的演出。這樣的作曲形式及作為鋼琴比賽選曲來說在加拿大都是首次。作品要求演奏者對東西方音樂均有深厚的領悟及敏銳。多倫多中樂團主辦這次鋼琴比賽﹐是加拿大同類型比賽的一次。」。彭進秀深信，所有形式的音樂最終會融匯成一種新的面貌﹔這次中西不同樂種的嶄新嘗試，將會令大家對何謂「四海一家」這個理想世界，認識更深。

此次比賽的目的，是讓一些年青的鋼琴好手有機會發揮所長，籍此比賽吸收演出經驗，從而提高音樂造詣。得獎者更能與多倫多最具歷史及規模的中樂團合作，提高青年人在中樂方面的興趣與認識。

所有參賽者必須於1980年1月1日後出生，比賽定於2009年12月27日於萬錦市舉行，得獎者將可與多倫多中樂團合作；在其2010年的音樂會同臺演出。
