I was born in Hong Kong. When I was young, I was very interested in Chinese traditional culture and art, especially local folk music. In high school, the first time I was taught to play erhu, I was deeply impressed by its unique human-like sound tone. I loved how it could express deep emotions.
Later, having to focus on career and family, I sadly had to stop playing. After immigrating to Toronto in 1995, my interest in playing erhu reignited and I began to study with some famous teachers and had the chance to participate in various local Chinese orchestras.
It is my pleasure to join in as one of the TCO family members to play music. Under their guidance, my skills are improving.
Besides playing music, I also love to sing, especially Cantonese opera songs. I often perform in our community as a volunteer.
I hope our precious cultural arts will continue for generations to come and be known to everyone in the world.
